GROW WITH ULI NEXT – The bright side of stress
GROW WITH ULI NEXT is a new format of meetings for ULI members between 35 and 45 years old during which will have a chance to network and listen to speakers focusing on personal growth.
The first meeting in the series of GROW WITH ULI NEXT was title “The bright side of stress” and Mateusz Banaszkiewicz, well known health psychologist, explained how to deal with stress in difficult situations.
We are accustomed that in relation to stress we mostly hear about its negative aspects and how harmful it is. The most common reactions we talk about is Fight or Flight Response. However, during our meeting with Mateusz we found out there is much more beyond this. Stress has also a lot of positive sides and it’s better to embrace stress than to suppress it. Recent findings show that the way we think about stress influences our resilience to face difficult circumstances and the way we respond to stress.
The most important lesson we received from Mateusz Banaszkiewicz is: “Next time you notice stress, try not to think of it as a sign of failure, but rather as a sign that something that you care about is at stake and what can allow you to change anxiety into excitement. Instead of stress about stress or making efforts to fight it, just try to: 1 . Notice it, 2. Accept it as a sign of engagement and 3. Transform it into something positive like self-care, reaching out to others for help or act courageously like engaging in a difficult conversation that can help you solve a problem or receive help.”
Afterwards we had a short tour of the new and beautiful Echo Investment office and continued our discussions over drinks in Warsaw Brewery. To unstress ourselves 😉
Thank you, Mateusz, for a very interesting presentation! Thank you, to Co-Chairs of ULI Poland NEXT Group, Tomasz Aleszczyk and Małgorzata Kercz.
Big thank you also goes to Echo Investment for hosting us!
See you at next Grow with ULI Next meetings!
